As a family-owned company, active on the market for 75 years, we always think ahead and take action now. That's why sustainability is an integral part of our DNA, starting with development of new ideas for our professional cooking technology and extending across the entire production cycle to the utilisation of renewable energy. As premium manufacturer, we aim to promote sustainable development in our industry using products that save energy and preserve natural resources as well as sustainable packaging. Our target is to achieve carbon neutral production as soon as possible.

We have been working to reduce emissions at MKN for years now. With the latest findings on climate change in mind,  we have set ourselves ambitious climate targets at the company. For example, we purchase green electricity and use our own  photovoltaic system to produce renewable energy.

MKN goes green to advocate for protection of the climate, nature and resources and promote social responsibility.

YoungTalent Kevin is our best "Energy Scout"

In this Chamber of Industry and Commerce qualification programme, trainees learn to recognize energy saving potential in their respective companies. At MKN, Kevin Falk investigated whether it was better to leave the Salvagnini system – a state-of-the-art automatic combined punch-laser machine in our production facility on standby or to switch it off at the weekends.

MKN technology on Africa Mercy ship

The hospital ship has been providing free medical care to developing countries for more than 40 years. MKN premium cooking equipment is used to prepare meals for the constant crew of over 400 volunteers as well as patients.

MKN supports fundraising for Chiara

She was born in 2020 with an extremely rare lower limb deficiency. To be able to walk on her own, she requires surgery by the US pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Dror Paley who is an expert in this field. MKN has made a donation to help make the operation possible.

Paper envelopes

We have replaced our plastic shipping document and packing list pouches by paper envelopes. These are made from 100 % recycled paper, are completely recyclable and FSC certified (sustainable forest management).

Saving material by using returnable packaging

Returnable packaging can be used repeatedly and is sent to and from manufacturers and customers. You don't need  cardboard packaging and bubble wrap anymore and this saves resources, time and costs.

MKN launches own digital broadcast studio

The MKN Digital Center with integrated show kitchen can accomodate filming of live streams, cooking shows, expert talks and individual training sessions. These formats are streamed from here around the world, saving on corporate travel costs.
